Attendance is the first step in student achievement. Missing a day of school is a missed opportunity for your child to learn, have fun with their friends, and see their teacher.
If your child is absent, campuses will contact the parent or guardian in order to maintain accurate attendance records. You may contact the attendance clerk of your child’s school to notify them of any absence by clicking the Attendance Notes link below and attach a parent/doctor’s note. A parent or doctor’s note will be required when a child returns to school. An individual commits an offense if the individual fails to attend school on ten (10) or more days or parts of days within a six (6) month period or on three (3) or more days or parts of days within a four (4) week period.
In an effort to ensure your student’s safety and minimize traffic, our morning drop off procedures are as follows:
Car riders will enter the parking lot on the west side of the building.
There is ONE lane of traffic.
Students will enter the building from the side staff entrance doors.
In an effort to ensure your student’s safety and minimize traffic, our afternoon pick up procedures are as follows:
You must have a current-year car rider tag in order to pick up your children from the car rider line. If you need to get an additional tag printed, please proceed to the front office (an official form of identification is required).
Car rider traffic will enter the parking lot on the west side of the building. There are two lines of traffic. Be sure to display your car rider tag. Do not change lanes once a member of our staff has seen your car tag and recorded it. Students will be escorted to cars by a teacher.
Walkers
To improve student safety and reduce traffic congestion during dismissal, we are updating our walker procedures beginning at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
All approved walkers will be escorted by staff to the corner of Royal Crossing Dr. and Crown Rock Dr.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students will only be released to a parent/guardian displaying the official student sign.
1st–5th grade students will be released to walk home once they reach the designated corner.
As in previous years, crossing guards will be present at this intersection to help ensure student safety.
To qualify as a walker, your child must live within one mile of Kings Manor Elementary and not qualify for bus transportation. Parents must complete the form below to request walker status.
Parents of walkers are not permitted to park on the street directly in front of KME.
We also strongly discourage parking on the corner near the walker intersection to wait for your child.
This process is intended for students who are truly walking to and from home, not as a way to bypass the car rider line. These changes will help reduce traffic and ensure a safer, smoother dismissal for everyone.
The safety of all in our community is our priority and we will continue to make changes to our procedures as needed. We thank you for your patience and support.
For more transportation information, visit the NCISD Transportation site.
Rainy Day Procedures
The presence or absence of lightning will determine if a rainy day dismissal is called. If we must call rainy day dismissal, parents will be notified via Remind no later than 3:25 p.m.
When rainy day dismissal is called:
All walkers must become car riders.
Parents must have the current year car rider tag and follow car rider procedures (above).
If you do not have a car rider tag, you must go to the front office to request one (an official I.D. is required) and then proceed to the car rider line.
Parents who choose not to join the car line will need to wait in the front office until dismissal has been completed. At that time, our staff members will be able to dismiss your child to you.
While the above are our guidelines that we strive to meet, please understand that in unforeseen circumstances, we will always make a call that matches what we believe is in the best interest of our students' safety.
